Overview
AcadLink uses a small number of cookies and browser storage items to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and make the app load quickly. We do not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites.
This page explains what we store, why, and how you can remove it at any time.

What We Use and Why
These are required for AcadLink to function. You cannot opt out of essential storage while using the platform.
Authentication
A secure, encrypted cookie that keeps you logged in to your account.
Without it, you would be signed out every time you close your browser.
Session cache
A local copy of your basic profile information stored in your browser.
Allows the app to display your name, avatar, and role instantly without waiting for a network request on every page.
These improve your experience but are not strictly required for the platform to work.
Theme preference
Remembers whether you have chosen light mode or dark mode.
So the app respects your display preference every time you return.
Feed preferences
A local cache of the topics, tags, and filters you have configured in your feed.
Makes your personalised feed load instantly instead of fetching settings from the server every time.
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand how the platform performs in aggregate. These tools collect no personal information, set no cookies, and do not track you across other websites.

What We Do Not Use
We do not use advertising cookies, marketing pixels, or any tool that tracks your activity across other websites.
We do not share cookie or storage data with advertisers or data brokers.
The only third-party analytics we use — Vercel — processes only anonymous, aggregate data and does not build profiles of individual users.

Push Notifications
If you grant permission for push notifications, your device generates a unique token that is stored securely in our database — not in your browser. This token is used solely to deliver notifications from AcadLink to your device.
You can revoke notification permission at any time from your device settings or from the Settings page inside the app.

Managing Your Data
Log out — The simplest way to clear your session data is to log out from the app. This removes your authentication and all cached profile information from your browser.
Browser settings — You can clear all cookies and site data for AcadLink at any time through your browser's privacy or settings menu. Look for an option such as "Clear browsing data" or "Manage site data" and search for acadlink.app.
Your account data — To delete your account and all associated data, go to Settings inside the app. You can also email support@acadlink.app for assistance.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. The date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Significant updates will be announced via the AcadLink notice board.
