Privacy Policy

AcadLink is a private campus social network built exclusively for the Vidya Vihar community. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

We believe in collecting only what is necessary to run the platform. We do not sell your personal information, we do not run ads, and we do not share your data with any party for marketing or commercial purposes.

This policy is written in plain language and is compliant with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the SPDI Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) — India's current framework for personal data protection.

We use your information solely to operate and improve AcadLink. This means delivering your feed, sending you notifications for activity you care about, verifying that you belong to the Vidya Vihar community, and keeping the platform safe from abuse.

We do not use your data for advertising, behavioural profiling, or any purpose beyond running the platform for you.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information — to anyone, ever.

To operate the platform, we work with a small number of trusted infrastructure partners. These partners provide services like database hosting, image storage, and notification delivery. They process your data only on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand how the platform is used in aggregate — for example, which pages load slowly or how many people visit each day. These tools collect no personally identifiable information and do not track you across other websites.

We may share your information if we are required to do so by a valid court order or law enforcement request under Indian law. We will notify you where legally permitted.

We take security seriously. Your password is never stored in a readable form. Your session is protected against common web vulnerabilities. All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted.

No system is completely immune to risk. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to support@acadlink.app. We take every report seriously.

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile and content are removed from the platform within 30 days. Any remaining copies in secure backups are permanently deleted within 90 days.

If you grant permission, we may notify you about activity on AcadLink — such as likes, comments, new followers, mentions, and official campus announcements.

We will never send you marketing or promotional notifications. You can turn off notifications at any time from your device settings or from the Settings page inside the app.

AcadLink uses a secure authentication cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is protected so that it cannot be read or modified by scripts on the page, which keeps your account safe.

We also store a small amount of data in your browser — such as your display preferences and a cache of your profile — so the app loads quickly. This data never leaves your device automatically and is cleared when you log out.

Access — You can view your personal information from your Profile and Settings pages at any time.

Correction — You can update your profile details at any time from Edit Profile.

Deletion — You can delete your account from Settings. This triggers the removal of your profile and all your content.

Portability — You can request a copy of your data by emailing support@acadlink.app. We respond within 30 days.

AcadLink is not intended for anyone under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you through an in-app notice. Continuing to use AcadLink after a change has been posted means you accept the updated policy.
